Philippine Independence Day and Salo-Salo
Sunday 9th June 2013, London
The UK Philippine Embassy has organised a mass and salo-salo (gathering) for Filipinos and community leaders in the UK.
Various Filipino communities contributed to the events and festivities on the day celebrating the 115th Philippine Independence from the Spanish rule of over 300 years. June 12 is an annual national holiday.
EA Doce Pares members attended the mass at the Church of Our Lady of Victories in Kensington, where the celebrating priest declared that it was the first time that the church was fully filled with the patriotic Filipinos.
A gathering at the church hall took place right after with the attendance of various Filipino community leaders who took part in a little showcase. Members of the UK Philippine Embassy were in attendance, including Hon. Ambassador Enrique Manalo.
EA Doce Pares is a sponsor of the event.
